High School Classical Guitar Institute

Kick off your summer with an intensive, 1-week study of the classical guitar. You’ll work with world-class faculty, challenge yourself with exciting solo and ensemble repertoire, and explore the nuts-and-bolts of guitar technique.

The Classical Guitar Institute brings together motivated students and world class artist-teachers for one week of intensive study. Students will participate in technique workshops, masterclasses, private lessons, ensembles, fretboard harmony courses, and seminars on a variety of topics ranging from college auditions and competition preparation to nail care. The Institute features performances by faculty and culminates with a student recital, including a world-premiere performance of a new work for guitar ensemble.

 

Audition Requirements

Select and record the following:
1. A single movement of a solo concert work from the Baroque, Classical/Romantic, or
Modern stylistic eras.

2. An etude from the list below:
Leo Brouwer, 20 Estudios Sencillos

Fernando Sor, 20 Studies (Segovia edition)
Villa-Lobos: 12 Etudes
