Whether you are an experienced organist, or a strong pianist interested in studying organ, our three-week organ summer program is a great opportunity. Through the close-knit nature of the department, you will receive significant individual attention to help you grow as a musician and organist.
During your time here, you will be guided by an accomplished faculty in private organ and piano lessons, master classes, and dedicated practice time.
Organ master classes include a studio class, meeting and working with guest artists, coached practicing, and the opportunity to play in church services. A piano skills class will help you develop a strong technical foundation.
Round out your experience with two elective classes. Your electives may be in music, or you can take the opportunity to explore another art form, such as theatre, film, dance, creative writing, or visual arts. View elective class options.
When you're not in class, you'll have numerous opportunities to enjoy student, faculty, and renowned guest artist presentations in a variety of art forms.
Each session of this program is three weeks long, and students are welcome to attend two three-week sessions. A multiple session discount is offered.
Audio or video files #1 and #2: Two solo works of contrasting style. There is no required repertoire for intermediate applicants but the audition should demonstrate the applicant's overall ability.
Inexperienced organists with a strong piano background are encouraged to apply. Admission eligibility will be determined on the combined merits of the piano and organ selections.
