About Kramer

Kramer Milan is an active educator and percussionist throughout the United States. As assistant Professor in Percussion and Music Technology at Boise State University, Milan cares deeply about the responsibility to share his passion for music with the next generation of aspiring professionals.

He has won positions in both the Waterloo-Cedar Falls (Iowa) and Midland (Michigan) Symphonies and is a member of the percussion chamber group, The Percussion Collective. His wide experience ranges from performances with Aretha Franklin to the American Brass Quintet. As an advocate for new music, Milan has premiered over 30 works from composers including Hannah Lash, James Wood, Krists Auznieks, David Biedenbender, and Molly Joyce.

Milan holds degrees from Yale University, The Peabody Conservatory, and Michigan State University. As an endorsed artist, Milan performs exclusively with Vic Firth drumsticks, Zildjian cymbals, Pearl/Adams percussion products, Evans drumheads, and Black Swamp Percussion accessories. Milan's current projects include the writing of The Percussion Primer, a book on percussion history and pedagogy under contract with Apaka Music.

Outside of music, Milan enjoys exploring the great outdoors as a four-season cyclist, runner, and off-roader.

I seek to share my joy as an artist and impassioned fan of music, inspiring people to listen and learn. My ultimate goal is to empower my students to become their own teachers. Striking the right balance of inspiration and information, I enable people to lead fulfilling lives as artists and educators.
