Program Highlights

Percussion Ensemble

Each day, you will join your peers for Percussion Ensemble rehearsals. The Percussion Ensemble performs a challenging repertoire that highlights many of the diverse instruments of the percussion family. Percussion Ensemble rehearsals offer the opportunity to practice the instruments and techniques you have studied in class.

Master Classes

During the intensive, master classes are a daily occurrence. Led by our faculty and guest artists, these classes provide professional perspectives on standard percussion repertoire—and offer you the chance to work one-on-one with these acclaimed artists.

Faculty Recitals

Listening to music is an important part of studying it. That's why our faculty present several solo and chamber recitals during the intensive. On nights when the percussion faculty isn't performing, you're welcome to attend recitals by the faculty of any other institute—for free!

Additional Opportunities

If you'd like to continue your studies at Interlochen, we also offer a six-week summer Orchestra & Wind Ensemble program. Interlochen is also home to Interlochen Arts Academy, a college preparatory boarding high school that offers six music majors for students in grades 9-12.

Meet the Faculty

The Interlochen percussion faculty are among the world's most elite percussion practitioners. They bring extensive experience in every aspect of percussion performance—orchestra, jazz, rock, contemporary, session, and more—to their roles as your instructors. Many are Interlochen Arts Camp and Arts Academy alumni themselves and understand firsthand the joys and challenges of studying percussion at Interlochen. Learn more about our faculty.
