Fred Love has performed over 100 leading roles in opera, operetta and musical theatre. His credits include: Old Deuteronomy in Cats, Fred/Petruchio in Kiss Me Kate, as Archibald in The Secret Garden, and Frederick in The Pirates of Penzance for, Ravenal in Show Boat on Broadway at the Gershwin Theatre, Sky Masterson in Guys and Dolls and Freddy in My Fair Lady for Stage West Calgary, Canadian premieres of Master Class as Tony & Count Ludovic in Passion, Dr. Jack in Johnny Belinda for the Charlottetown Festival, Billy Crocker in Aanything Goes, Danilo and Camille in The Merry Widow (Tot, Michigan Opera Theatre, Kansas City Lyric, Jersey Opera Festival), Gabey in On the Town - Hamburg Staatsoper (Germany), Sam in Street Scene for Theater des Westens (Berlin), Juan Peron in Evita and Perchik in Fiddler on the Roof for the Stratford Festival, as well as Houston Grand, Orlando, Anchorage, Santa Fe, Memphis, Costa Mesa, Chautauqua, Florida Grand Opera, and Opera Pacific. He is a past winner of the Metropolitan Opera Auditions and a finalist in the Belvedere International Opera Competition, Vienna. In addition, he heads the Musical Theatre program at Oakland University in Michigan where he has directed/musical directed over 65 productions.
