Each summer, Interlochen’s piano tally swells to nearly 230 instruments. With so many instruments in use, keeping the pianos in tune is a constant battle.

Jessica Masse leads a small, busy team of piano technicians who are tasked with tuning and maintaining Interlochen’s pianos over the summer. Interlochen Public Radio’s Dan Wanschura shadowed Masse for a day to learn the skills -- and the struggle -- of keeping the pianos tuned. Listen to his story here.
