An overview of the Valade Concertmasters program.
Interlochen Arts Camp is pleased to announce the World Youth Symphony Orchestra (WYSO) conductors, repertoire and Valade Concertmasters for the 2018 summer session.
Established in 2016, the Valade Concertmaster program enhances the educational experience by providing experienced professional mentors for the violinists of the World Youth Symphony Orchestra. The Valade Concertmasters work closely with the students and conductors of the World Youth Symphony Orchestra, attending each rehearsal and offering advice on both technical and artistic aspects of performance.

The Valade Concertmasters will work alongside the following guest conductors:
- June 23-July 1: Michael Francis
- July 2-8: Guillermo Figueroa (IAC/NMC 67-70)
- July 9-15: Larry Rachleff
- July 16-22: JoAnn Falletta
- July 23-29: Brett Mitchell
- July 30-Aug. 5: Jung-Ho Pak
In addition to their work with students, both Chailfour and Thayer will perform as soloists with the ensemble. Chalifour will perform during WYSO’s first performance on July 1. Thayer will perform on the July 29 concert.

Highlights of the Summer 2018 season will include Berlioz’s Symphonie Fantastique, Shostakovich’s Symphony No. 1, Brahms’ Symphony No. 4, and Respighi’s The Pines of Rome.
