In the musical theatre workshop, you will work with a team of theatre teachers, specialists, and other talented students to explore the distinct challenges of the genre. You will spend three weeks working on songs, characterizations, vocal work, and choreography, culminating with a showcase performance with modest technical support.
During this three-week program, you will participate in:
- Acting technique classes
- Vocal ensemble studio work
- Dance ensemble studio work
- Workshop rehearsal
The performance at the end of the session is a high-energy, highly entertaining musical revue. It includes repertoire from classic and contemporary musical theatre, with opportunities for solo, duet, and ensemble performance. You will perform in the recently renovated Harvey Theatre, a 180-seat modern three-quarter thrust venue featuring a state-of-the-art custom grid lighting system (view 360-degree virtual tour).
While musical theatre workshop students do not take elective classes, you will have numerous opportunities to enjoy presentations in music, dance, film, creative writing, theatre, and visual arts.
