Overview

The advanced oboe institute is an unparalleled opportunity for serious young oboists with professional aspirations to spend a week of intensive study with three internationally known performers and teachers.

Program Details

Daily master classes will focus on solo repertoire, etudes and orchestral works with special attention given to preparation for college and conservatory auditions. Master classes will include repertoire the participants have prepared in advance. A pianist will be provided for repertoire requiring accompaniment.

Performances by faculty members and distinguished guest artists (including Interlochen alumni) will be the highlight of the week.

Each student will receive private lessons with special attention given to reed work and instrument maintenance.

Enrollment is limited to 18 participants plus auditors. Auditors will have all privileges of participants except playing in the master classes. Tuition for auditors will be $900.

Applicants to the advanced oboe institute who are not accepted as participants will be offered admission as an auditor.

Applicants who apply by February 1 will be notified of admission decisions by April 1. Later applicants will be notified on a rolling basis.
