High School Singer-Songwriter Summer Program

In the singer-songwriter program, you develop your songwriting and performance skills under the guidance of music industry professionals. The program enables you to explore a variety of songwriting styles, collaborate with other talented musicians, and perform your music. You will master songwriting fundamentals, and explore the connections among emotion, imagination, and song.

Program length: 3 weeks
Program dates:
July 14, 2019 to August 5, 2019
Tuition: $6,015
Age range: Students currently in grades 9-12
Focusing on piano, guitar, and voice, you will compose songs and share them in small workshops that allow you to gain performance experience and receive feedback in an intimate and supportive setting. Additional performance opportunities include informal "coffee house" style events, a mid-session public performance, and a public performance at the end of the session.

Students also have the opportunity to collaborate with Music Production & Engineering majors to record their work in Interlochen's new professional recording studios.

While students in the singer-songwriter program do not take elective classes, there are many opportunities to enjoy student and faculty presentations in visual art, theatre, dance, creative writing, and film while you are here. And each summer, we present an impressive lineup of world-renowned classical, jazz, and popular guest artists.
