The advanced oboe institute gives students the opportunity to work with a distinguished faculty of internationally recognized oboe performers and teachers. With enrollment limited to 12 students, experienced young oboists will enjoy a week of personalized study and master class performances. The advanced oboe institute will ready you for a healthy summer of growth and steady development as an oboist and will help prepare you for successful study at the collegiate level.

Master classes will develop musicianship and playing techniques through repertoire that you have prepared in advance of the institute (a collaborative pianist will be provided for accompanied works). Master classes may include:

  • Concerto Repertoire
  • Sonata Repertoire
  • Other Solo Repertoire
  • Orchestral Excerpts
  • Etudes

In addition to master classes, you will also have access to faculty performances, reed making and adjusting classes, practice technique workshops, oboe ensemble sessions, and personal practice time.

Audition Requirements

  • Audio or video files #1 and #2: Two works of contrasting style (consider movements from concerto, sonata, etude, or other solo repertoire)
  • Audio or video file #3: An orchestral excerpt of your choice

Applicants who submit an audition to the advanced oboe institute may be considered for the oboe institute.
