Immerse yourself in the world of poetry and fiction during our three-week creative writing program for grades 6-9. Guided by teachers who are also professional writers, you will develop a portfolio of poems and stories, and learn how to give and receive constructive feedback.
During the three-week sessions, students spend their days in The Writing House, a beautiful and inspiring space built specifically to meet the needs of young writers. View 360-degree virtual tour Your daily writing classes will include guided reading and writing assignments, discussion, and critique. You will also take part in the Creative Writing Forum, which is an opportunity to work on a variety of projects with each of the writing instructors. Small class sizes and individualized mentorship provide opportunities to work closely with instructors and other students who share your passion for writing. Enrich your experience with three elective classes, which may be selected from a variety of arts areas. Playwriting may also be taken as an elective. Students will be given notebooks and pencils. Laptops are optional. Students who bring a computer should also bring a USB flash drive to facilitate printing. iPads are not recommended. How to Apply This program does not require a portfolio.
