Mr. Emata received his Bachelor and Master's degrees in Piano at Indiana University, coaching with Alfonso Montecino, Gyorgy Sebok, and John Ogdon. In addition he has coached with John Simms at the University of Iowa, and with Istvan Nadas. He appeared twice in the "Sunday Afternoon at Cantigny" series and the nationally broadcast Dame Myra Hess Memorial Concerts, both in Chicago. His performances have been broadcast over NPR affiliate stations in Washington, Nevada, and South Dakota Public Radio. His 'Concerts & Conversation" series has been popular with many presenters in the Western U.S. Mr. Emata is also active as a teacher, adjudicator, and has served as an advisory panelist for the Indiana Arts Commission. He has served on the juries of a number of competitions, including the Music Teachers National Association (MTNA) Southwest Regional piano competition, South Dakota Music Teachers Association MTNA competition, and was the featured concert artist at the South Dakota Music Teachers Association annual convention in 2009. Presently maintaining a private teaching practice in Las Vegas, Nevada, he is a past president of the Nevada Music Teachers Association.
