Pierce Emata

About Pierce

Pierce Emata is an independent teacher based in Las Vegas, Nevada. He received his Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Piano Performance at Indiana University, studying with Alfonso Montecino, John Ogdon, and Gyorgy Sebok. He has also studied with John Simms, Loran Olsen, and Istvan Nadas. Mr. Emata is active as a solo performer and adjudicator for numerous competitions and music festivals across the country. In November 2017 he was invited to serve on the jury for the National India MusiQuest Piano Competition. His concerts for the 2019-20 season also include tours in India and Japan. He is well known through the Midwestern and Western U.S. for his popular Concerts & Conversation series. Mr. Emata has been awarded project and performance grants by several state arts commissions related to his performing, recording, teaching, and composing. His performances have also been broadcast over NPR affiliate stations in Washington, Nevada, Idaho and South Dakota Public Radio. He received the Steinway & Sons' "Top Teacher Award" in 2018.
