Dr. Oryana Racines-Smakovic belongs to the most prominent violinists of the new generation of Panamanian professional musicians. Her passion lays in playing solo, chamber music and performing in chamber orchestra settings. She has worked in numerous ensembles throughout Europe and the Americas, among them the Albert Eckstein Chamber Orchestra (Germany), Alfredo de Saint-Malo Camerata (Americas) and the distinguished ensemble Paisaxe (Panama). The latter group being an important advocate for classical, popular and contemporary Latin American music. Dr. Racines has also been member of the Panamanian National Symphony Orchestra and the Lubbock Symphony Orchestra in Texas, among others.
Her unique teaching style, which emphasizes on learning through kinesthetic awareness, has brought her invitations to teach at music festivals, schools and universities in Panama, Costa Rica and the U.S. 2019 will be her third year at the Interlochen Summer Arts Camp.
