A. Michelle Alexander

Instructor of Dance, Interlochen Arts Camp

Michelle is excited to be returning to her seventh summer at Interlochen! She began work at the Interlochen Performing arts camp following two years as Ballet Mistress for Ballet Arkansas. She also served as guest choreographer for the company, as well as Arkansas symphony orchestra. She has taught and choreographed Classical/Contemporary Ballet, Pointe, Contemporary/Modern, Partnering, Folk, and Jazz dance techniques at such organizations as the New Orleans Center for the Arts/Riverfront, New Orleans Ballet Association, Moving People Dance Theatre Santa Fe, Nevada Ballet Theatre Las Vegas, the University of Nevada Las Vegas Recreational Center, a year abroad at the American Academy of Dance in Paris, France. Ms. Alexander is currently the Director of Jazz, Modern, and Tap for Ballet Arts/Ballet Tucson and slated to choreograph for the company during the 2018 fall season.  

Michelle has danced professionally with the Koresh Dance Company of Philadelphia, The Pennsylvania Ballet (as a full scholarship student), the Delta Festival Ballet New Orleans, guest performer to Moving People Dance Theatre of Santa Fe, Urban Ballet Theatre NYC in association with Newcomb Dance Co. of Tulane University, Arkansas Festival Ballet, and toured Europe with Komenka Dance Ensemble. Her work in musical theatre includes the Shoji Tabuchi Show, Legends in Concert, and Dixie Stampede, as well as, a variety of commercials. University credits include studies in Dance, Theatre, and Anthropology at the University of New Orleans, Tulane, the University of Nevada Las Vegas, and the University of Arkansas Little Rock.
