Michael Sabatka

Instructor of Viola, Interlochen Arts Camp

B.M., Viola Performance, Oberlin Conservatory of Music

A native of Rochester, New York, Michael has demonstrated the importance of being a well rounded musician. He was principal violist of Opera Circle Cleveland, and subbed for the Canton Symphony Orchestra. As a member of Oberlin's Swimming and Diving team, he achieved four varsity letters, and four times his team achieved Academic All-American status. With the belief that it is one's duty to give back to the community that fostered one's growth, Michael worked with the orchestra program at the city of Oberlin's Langston Middle School, and often volunteered to play at community events.

Michael recently earned his BM at the Oberlin Conservatory of Music, where he was grateful to be the student of Peter Slowik. His recent orchestral accolades include membership to the 2011 National Repertory Orchestra, and the 2010 National Orchestral Institute. Michael is excited to be a Graduate String Quartet Fellow at Boise State University.
