Professor of Oboe, Jacobs School of Music at Indiana University
Linda Strommen is Professor of Oboe at Indiana University's Jacobs School of Music, a regular guest teacher at The Juilliard School, and a faculty member of the Interlochen Arts Camp and the New York String Orchestra. Her extensive orchestral experience includes principal and associate principal positions in the Milwaukee, Honolulu, New Haven, Wichita, and Akron Symphonies, interim principal positions with the Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra and the Rochester Philharmonic, and second oboe positions with the Metropolitan Opera and the Santa Fe Opera. She was formerly Professor of Oboe at Louisiana State University and taught for many years at the Mannes College of Music, The Juilliard School Pre-College, Wichita State University, and summers at Le Domaine Forget Academie in Quebec. Ms. Strommen holds both Bachelor and Master of Music degrees from the Cleveland Institute of Music, where she studied with John Mack. She commissioned Eric Ewazen's Concerto for Oboe and Strings, "Down a River of Time," and recorded it with the International Sejong Soloists for Albany Records.
