Lia Uribe is the assistant professor of bassoon at the University of Arkansas, principal bassoonist of SoNA, and member of the Lyrique Quintette. Dr. Uribe maintains an active career as a chamber musician, orchestral player and artist-teacher. Her international work includes concerts in Argentina, Colombia, Canada, Puerto Rico, Costa Rica, Finland, Ecuador, Germany, Peru, Greece and Japan. She has also played and taught in multiple USA venues. As an advocate of new music, Dr. Uribe has commissioned and premiered new works for the bassoon. Her research interest is centered on Latin-American and Latinx music and composers, in addition to inclusiveness and diversity in the arts. Originally from Colombia, Lia Uribe holds degrees in bassoon performance from Universidad Nacional de Colombia, University of Arkansas, and University of Kansas.
