Leigh Miller Muñoz

Leigh Miller Muñoz is adept as an orchestral musician, soloist, chamber musician and educator and brings a variety of experiences to her career.

Leigh is currently adjunct faculty in bassoon at Washburn University and Missouri State University.  She has held positions in both the Springfield and Cedar Rapids Symphonies and is currently a regular substitute bassoonist and contrabassoonist with the Kansas City Symphony, Lyric Opera, and Kansas City Ballet. Leigh has performed as concerto soloist with the University of Kansas Wind Ensemble, University of Kansas Symphony Orchestra, Ottawa University Symphony Orchestra and Ohio University Symphony Orchestra. 

Leigh is also an active member of the double reed community.  She is faculty for the Bassoon Institute at Interlochen Arts Camp and High Plains Music Camp and was on the faculty of Midwestern Music Academy from 2005-2010.  Leigh is also the founder of GoBassoon Reeds, which provides professionals and amateurs around the world with bassoon and contrabassoon reeds.  She has given clinics on both bassoon and chamber music at many public schools around the Kansas City and Lawrence areas.  Leigh has performed at multiple Midwest Double Reed Society Conferences and is their treasurer and webmaster.  In 2011 she performed as solo contrabassoonist on a recital at the International Double Reed Society Conference. 

Leigh is currently pursuing her Doctor of Musical Arts degree at the University of Kansas.  She also holds degrees from Oberlin Conservatory, New England Conservatory and Ohio University. Her principal teachers include George Sakakeeny, Eric Stomberg, and Richard Svoboda.
