A native of Ohio, Dr. Joshua Michal is the Assistant Professor of Horn at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. He is a member of the Hartford Symphony Orchestra and has performed with the Chicago Symphony, Boston Lyric Opera, Boston Philharmonic, Cincinnati Symphony and Pops, Rhode Island Philharmonic, United States Coast Guard Band, Columbus Symphony, Albany Symphony, Portland Symphony, Dayton Philharmonic, Charleston Symphony, Breckenridge Music Festival, Le Orchestre de la Francophonie Canadienne, and the Cincinnati Chamber Orchestra. Dr. Michal has recently presented master-classes at the Hartt School of Music and Wright State University. His principal teachers include Jeff Nelsen, Gail Williams, and Bruce Henniss.

Dr. Michal is currently recording his first solo album due out in 2017. He has also recorded with the Chicago Symphony, Cincinnati Symphony, Albany Symphony, and most recently with The Shakespeare Concerts consisting of four world premier works by Joseph Summer for 2 horns, harp, and voices.
