Dr. Garrett Schumann is an award-winning composer, music theorist, and arts administrator based in Michigan. He serves on the music faculty at Western Michigan University and Madonna University, where he teaches form and analysis, orchestration, composition, and music technology.

As a music theorist, Garrett specializes in the study of heavy metal music and his work has been published in multiple journals, as well as presented at numerous conferences and guest faculty appearances. Garrett’s original music for voice, chamber ensemble, large ensemble, and film is regularly performed and presented across the country and in Europe.
