Frank Portolese has been active as a performer and educator in the Chicago area for over 30 years. He has performed throughout the US, the UK and Europe. His performing credits include Eddie Harris, Mark O'Connor, Ira Sullivan, Shelley Manne, Catherine Russell, Johnny Frigo and others. His pop credits range from Sammy Davis, Jr. to Clay Aiken.
Frank's newest CD is "Plectrum Jazz Guitar Solos", released November 2010. This is in addition to "Transparent" (1994) and "Last Call" (2000), both on the Southport label.
Frank teaches Jazz Guitar at the University of Illinois, Chicago and Elmhurst College. He founded the Jazz Program for Midwest Young Artists, a youth music program in Chicago's north suburbs. Past teaching credits include American Conservatory of Music and the Jamey Aebersold Summer Jazz Camp. He has done clinics and master classes throughout the US and the UK.
