Sheryl Iott is a frequent solo and collaborative performer, speaker, and adjudicator, and is also on the piano faculty at Grand Rapids Community College. She has also served on the faculties of Hope College, Michigan State University, and Calvin College, teaching piano, piano pedagogy, keyboard skills, music appreciation, and as staff accompanist. She has studied with Ralph and Tina Votapek, Ian Hobson, and Joseph Evans. Recent performance highlights include appearances with members of the Grand Rapids Symphony and with Jody Benson, (the voice of Ariel from The Little Mermaid); on the faculty recital series at Interlochen Arts Camp; as a member of Piano Profusion at the St. Cecilia Music Society and as part of the Keller-Cooler Concert series; and as principal pianist with the West Shore Symphony. She has presented at national, state, and local conferences on topics such as teaching sightreading, theoretical analysis and its influence on performance, and eighteenth-century performance practice. She has three children, and lives in Grand Rapids, Michigan where she also maintains a private piano studio.
