Dr. Naomi Niskala

Pianist Naomi Niskala has appeared as soloist and chamber musician in Europe, the United States, Canada, and Japan, and her performances have been broadcast on BBC Radio and NPR's Performance Today. She was a fellow for two summers each at the Tanglewood Festival and Ravinia Festival's Steans Institute.  In 2007 she released the first complete recordings of Robert Helps' solo piano works with Albany Records on two discs, and her chamber music recording with Spectrum Concerts Berlin was released in 2011 by Naxos. Recent performances include the San Francisco Symphony Chamber Series, Davies Symphony Hall; Carnegie's Weill Hall; soloist with the St. Petersburg Chamber Philharmonic of Russia; Spectrum Concerts Berlin, Philharmonie Hall Germany; performances in Jacksonville, Naples, and St. Augustine, Florida; Icicle Creek Music Center, Washington State; Wuerth-haus, Berlin; Eastman School of Music; Penn State University; University of Manitoba; Philadelphia Museum of Art; Niigata University, Japan. She received an Artist Diploma with Claude Frank from the Yale School of Music, and DMA and MM with Gilbert Kalish at Stony Brook University. Currently Assistant Professor of Music, Susquehanna University where she teaches piano and theory, and leads a summer chamber music exchange program to Japan.
