Violinist Laura Speck Camacho maintains an active and varied performing and teaching career. She has held adjunct and assistant teaching positions at Vanderbilt University and at Arizona State University, where she instructed both pre-college and undergraduate violin students.
Dr. Speck Camacho has been a member of the Phoenix Opera and Des Moines Metro Opera, and has performed regularly with The Phoenix Symphony, Nashville Symphony, and Nashville Chamber Orchestra. Her diverse musical background includes performing backup violin to Kanye West, as well as touring nationally with Vince Gill and Amy Grant. World premiere performances include a new opera by James DeMars and a work written by Ola Gjeilo for Grammy Award winning Phoenix Chorale and string quartet.
Dr. Speck Camacho holds violin performance degrees from Vanderbilt University and Arizona State University, where she earned a Doctor of Musical Arts degree with a research specialty in body awareness and injury prevention for string players. She has recently presented masterclasses on musician wellness, and is committed to promoting this topic in her own teaching studio. Dr. Speck Camacho's principal teachers include Chris Teal, Dr. Jonathan Sturm and Dr. Katherine McLin.
