Javier Pinell joined the Interlochen violin faculty in 2000. He is a founding member of Lindsayan String Quartet, an ensemble that held two prestigious residencies in Kentucky and Texas. He currently serves on the violin faculty at Sam Houston State University and is a member of the Kolonneh String Quartet. As concerto soloist he has appeared with orchestras in the United States and Latin America. In addition, Dr. Pinell has won several awards both as a performer and scholar including the Theodore Presser Award in two occasions. He has also done extensive research of academic music in Bolivia, and has produced and performed in an historical recording of contemporary Bolivian works. Principal teachers include Karen Clarke, Eliot Chapo, and Hal Grossman.
