A faculty member at Northwestern Michigan College, Dr. Vogel teaches piano, music theory, and ear training. Nationally certified, she is active in the Michigan Music Teachers Association as an executive board member, adjudicator, and guest lecturer. Vogel also maintains a large independent piano studio in Traverse City. She previously served on the faculties of Hope College, Kalamazoo Valley Community College, and as staff accompanist at Western Michigan University, Hope College, and Interlochen Center for the Arts. In 1998, she released a CD of original piano solos and is currently the pianist for the Traverse Symphony Orchestra. Vogel holds degrees in piano performance from Oberlin Conservatory and Western Michigan University where her primary teachers were Sedmara Zakarian Rutstein, Phyllis Rappaport, and Silvia Roederer. She has a DMA in Music Education from Boston University. In addition to her teaching and performing activities, Vogel's research has been accepted for publication in American Music Teacher and the Journal for Historical Research in Music Education.
