Interlochen Center for the Arts is pleased to announce that Baird, an employee-owned, international wealth management, capital markets, asset management and private equity firm, has marked its fifth year as sole sponsor of the Interlochen Ensemble. The Ensemble is a nationally-acclaimed musical group formed to share Interlochen’s mission of music and arts education with a broader audience during the summer months.

Five dynamic musicians, all recent graduates of Interlochen Arts Academy boarding high school, comprise the 2009 Interlochen Ensemble. Members are selected based on their talent, communication skills, enthusiasm, and genuine love for the performing arts. Last year, the Interlochen Ensemble made more than 50 appearances during the six weeks they were together, performing in a wide variety of settings and venues. First formed in 1995, the Ensemble has been generously underwritten by Baird for the past five years.

“We are grateful to Baird for making possible the Interlochen Ensemble, a talented group of musicians who truly showcase what Interlochen is all about,” said Jeffrey Kimpton, Interlochen president.

“Baird is very proud to be the sole sponsor of the Interlochen Ensemble,” said Bill Alldredge, Baird Senior Advisor and Vice-Chair of the Interlochen Board of Trustees. “Baird has a longstanding tradition of giving back to the communities in which we live and work. We are pleased to support the cultural contributions of the Ensemble in Michigan where our firm has a strong presence, as well as Interlochen’s broader mission of music and arts education.”

Core to Baird’s culture is a commitment to the communities in which its associates live and work. This caring commitment is a tradition built through the efforts of the firm, the Baird Foundation and the volunteer activities of Baird associates. A firmwide Charitable Gift Matching Program provides a match for associates’ financial contributions to eligible nonprofit organizations. Associates also receive an additional paid day off each year to perform volunteer service through the “Baird Cares” program.
