This program is open to students who will complete grades 6-9 during the 2009-10 school year.

Admission: 

Applicants who apply by February 1 will be notified of admission decisions no later than April 15. Late applicants will be notified on a rolling basis.

Overview

The workshop will explore the musical theatre experience through work on songs, foundational acting techniques and limited choreography. Works in progress from the three-week workshop session will be presented in a revue performance with limited technical support. Experience level: basic to moderate.

Acting Technique Class

One additional elective

Audition

  • Two 16-bar excerpts from two songs with piano accompaniment. One excerpt should be from an up-tempo song, and one should come from a ballad or slow song. Song excerpts should be no longer than 16 bars and should come from standard musical theatre repertoire.
  • One monologue (from a published play) of your choice. No longer than three minutes.
  • Record the above requirements on a standard full-size VHS tape or preferably a DVD (US format).
  • Submit the audition and label the recording and its casing with the applicant's full name, division, the program notation "INT-MT Workshop" and pieces presented.
