This program is open to students who will complete grades 6-9 during the 2009-10 school year.

Admission: 

Applicants who apply by February 1 will be notified of admission decisions no later than April 15. Late applicants will be notified on a rolling basis.

Overview

Students focus on further development of acting, singing and dancing skills through intensive work with a team of instructors. Students participate in staging a musical production with modest technical and design support. (Some abridgement of full-length works may occur.) Experience Level: moderate to advanced.

Program Details

  • Musical Theatre Production Rehearsal includes acting, voice and movement studio.
  • Acting Technique Class.

Note: Given the intensity of the program, electives are not available.

Audition Requirements

  • Two 16-bar excerpts from two songs with piano accompaniment. One excerpt should be from an up-tempo song, and one should come from a ballad or slow song. Song excerpts should be no longer than 16 bars and should come from standard musical theatre repertoire.
  • One monologue (from a published play) of your choice. No longer than three minutes.
  • Record the above requirements on a standard full-size VHS tape or preferably a DVD (US format).
  • Submit the audition and label the recording and its casing with the applicant's full name, division, the program notation "INT-MT Production" and pieces presented.

Applicants for Musical Theatre Production will also be considered for Musical Theatre Workshop.
