This program is open to students who will complete grades 6-9 during the 2009-10 school year.

Admission: 

Admission is granted on a first-come, first-served basis and candidates are notified on a rolling basis. Openings are limited, so early application is encouraged.

Overview

The intermediate creative writing program provides an immersion in the world of poetry and fiction, and may include explorations of other genres as well. Students create original works and learn how to give and receive constructive feedback to improve their writing. Students present their work at a reading at the end of the session.

Program Details

Writing classes include guided writing assignments, reading assignments, discussion and critique as part of the daily curriculum.

The Creative Writing Forum allows all intermediate writers a chance to work on a variety of projects with each of the Creative Writing Department instructors.

Three additional electives
enrich the students’ experience (view list).

Optional Playwriting Elective.
Creative Writing Majors have the option of taking Playwriting as one of their electives.

Note: Students will be provided with notebooks and pencils. Laptops are optional. Students who bring laptops are responsible for their storage and security, and should be aware that laptops are to be used for creative writing purposes only.
