Overview
The advanced painting intensive is for students with previous painting or drawing experience and established skills. It focuses exclusively on painting materials and techniques. Students will also explore composition, color psychology, processes, materials, the elements of painting and contemporary design and the use of color to depict the emotional and psychological approaches to the human form.
Prerequisite
A portfolio that shows established skill in painting, particularly from observation.

- Participation in the weekly figure-painting studio is encouraged
- Evening tutorial twice a week
Portfolio Requirements
Submit a minimum of five images that represent the applicant's highest quality of work. Three pieces must be made from direct observation (drawn from life) and may be in any medium.
Portfolios may be submitted: By email to admission@interlochen.org with the subject line "Advanced Painting Portfolio" and the applicant's full name. By US mail or parcel post photographs, slides or CDs must be labeled with "Advanced Painting Portfolio" and the applicant's full name on each item.
Portfolio materials will not be returned. Please do not send original work.
