Overview
The advanced drawing intensive is for students with previous drawing experience and established skills. The program focuses exclusively on drawing materials and techniques. Students will explore composition, process and the elements of drawing and contemporary design.
Prerequisite
A portfolio that shows established skill in drawing, particularly from observation.

- Approaches to drawing from life
- Methods of abstraction in drawing
- Figure-drawing and the human form
- Visual Arts Studio Seminar
- Participation in the weekly figuredrawing studio is encouraged
- Evening tutorial twice a week
Portfolio Requirements
Submit a minimum of five images that represent the applicant's highest quality of work. Three pieces must be made from direct observation (drawn from life) and may be in any medium.
Portfolios may be submitted: By email to admission@interlochen.org with the subject line "Advanced Drawing Portfolio" and the applicant's full name. By US mail or parcel post photographs, slides or CDs must be labeled with "Advanced Drawing Portfolio" and the applicant's full name on each item.
Portfolio materials will not be returned. Please do not send original work
Note: applicants who submit a portfolio for the Advanced Drawing Intensive program and wish to continue into the three week Advanced Painting Intensive program DO NOT need to send another portfolio.
